While the Sharkoon brand is a total “noob” in the world of top gaming headsets, they seem to be producing really state of the art products. As of this writing they are offering 2 great models: the X-Tatic True 5. 1 Dolby Digital Surround Sound model, and the X-Tatic SP Stereo model.
The X-Tatic 5. 1 Dolby Digital Surround Sound gaming headset boasts: 4 speakers per earpiece, and in-line volume controls in the cable, a high-end amplifier, independent volume controls for both game sound and chat sound. And the best part?!?The volume controls are illuminated!A Green light means low volume and a Red light means louder. This is one of my few complaints with both the X31 and X41 by Turtle Beach is that the volume controls are hard to locate, and so is the mute switch.
Tritton Ax Pro
The sound control unit supports Dolby Digital 2. 0, Dolby Digital 5. 0, and Dolby Pro Logic which result in superb sound quality. It also supports live chat functions for PS3, Xbox, and Xbox 360. It is very well padded on the ear cups and the headband for extreme comfort during extended gaming headset is the fact that not only does it light up, it is the only unit which I have ever heard referred to as “good looking”!The downside is it has a few wires, but this is to be expected when using an amplifier. Also some people feel this unit is a little “pricey”, but it is (in my opinion) about normal pricing for a which supports True Dolby. Supports PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 platforms.
Overall the online user reviews have been really positive for this with few complaints.
The Sharkoon X-Tatic SP Gaming Headset is a high quality stereo gaming headset which you will love using when playing COD:Black Ops or any other game. Simply connect the headset to your console using the analog interface and the built-in amplifier will give you the crucial edge you expect from any top gaming headset. In-line volume controls are easily adjusted while chatting live on either the PS3 or Xbox Live network. Ear cups are well cushioned, and each cup contains a 40mm speaker for great sound. If you want a great enhanced gaming audio at a more affordable price, the X-Tatic SP may be for you!
